Preparing for a Job Interview

The job interview is one of the most important parts of the
application process. This is because it gives the
prospective employer an opportunity to meet with you and
determine what kind of personality you have. It allows them
to get to know you as a person a little bit better, and to
understand who you are. And, because first impressions do
count, and because an impression is formed in about 30
seconds, it is important that you properly prepare for your
job interview so that you have a better chance of getting
the position.

Preparing for a job interview properly involves some work
and some care. It is important to go into the interview
prepared so that you make a good impression, and so that
the prospective employer knows that you care enough about
getting the job to come adequately prepared. Here are a few
things you can do to prepare for a job interview.

Do some research. Know about the company so that you
understand the mission and purpose. Know with whom it is
you are being interviewed, and what he or she is in charge
of.

As you prepare to answer the questions, you must also think
of questions to ask your interviewer. Most interviewers ask
if you have questions. Think of some relevant questions
about the job or the company. This shows you have put in
some serious thought. Plus you can have your genuine
questions answered.

Another suggestion is to take a pad, pen or pencil, and a
copy of your resume with you when you go for a job
interview. This shows you are organized and will help you
note down some information that you consider worth taking
note of. You should be prepared to present an extra copy of
your resume, if asked.

Arrive at least ten minutes before the appointed time. You
will get time to find your bearing in the new place and
create a good impression. If you arrive late for the
interview the prospective employer will get the impression
that you are irresponsible and have a habit of coming late
to work.
