It is true that in an economy that isn't doing too well
finding jobs can be a uphill task. Thankfully, the economy
isn't'tthat bad, though it isn't booming either. The job
prospects are not many. Nonetheless, if you are faced with a
situation of lay off or job loss you can convert it into a
career change for the better.

Basically, finding a job really boils down to letting the
employers find you. So, the first step is to send your
resume to everyone that could make use of your
qualifications and experience. Don't'thesitate to send your
resume even if the employers are not searching for people.
You can present your expertise in a manner that shows you
can make a difference in their company.

After sending the resume, you need to follow it up with a
phone call to the hiring department of the company. Make
sure that your resume has been received and try to seek an
appointment for an interview. Even if you don't'tsucceed in
getting an interview, you might get some valuable
information about what positions are available so that you
can talk to those departments directly.

Some aspirants make the effort to go to the companies in
person to set up appointments to talk to the head of the
department. It is no guarantee for getting a job there and
then, but if you manage to make a mark on the mind of the
department head you have a fair chance of being called when
they need to hire someone.

Networking is the best way to create job opportunities.
Talk to everyone about your desire to find a new position.
You'd be surprised how many people will be able to help you
find something that works for you. Talk to friends and
relatives. The more people are looking, the more able you
will be to find something.

Remember, your resume is a window to your personality. So,
try and make it as impressive and professional as you can.
It's'sa good idea to take the help of a professional resume
writer or software program, and print it on high grade
paper. It should be well worded, clean and readable, and
should present you in a positive light.

Whatever the reasons for losing your job, make sure you
never speak adversely about your previous employers. When
you communicate with prospective employers try to refer to
the positive attributes of your prior jobs. However, you may
want to describe the challenges that you overcame in your
previous job.

It is a full time job to find a job; it needs a great deal
of concentrated effort, atience and perseverance. If you are
sincere and consistent in your efforts, you will be able to
find someone who will be happy to employ you.
