Succeeding with Lead Capture Pages.

Making sure that your hard earned traffic winds up at your
lead capture page is a must if your primary interest is to
capture the details of new prospects from any advertising
campaign.

Lead capture pages are the way many online businesses
capture new leads for their own mailing lists or to
build a list of prospective clients for their
particular service or product and if you're getting lots
of traffic but not collecting many leads, you may need to
look at if you are utilizing these properly.

Lead capture pages are known by various other names such
as 'splash pages', 'lead pages', and 'lead generator
pages' to name just a few, but essentially they are the same
thing.

However, there is one name you may hear that is actually
something slightly different and that is those known as
'doorway pages'. These are used to provide an optimized
entry web page to gain a better search engine rank, and
whereas they could be used as a lead capture page, that's
not their main purpose.

So, how do lead capture pages work? Well, naturally they
should be focused on just one thing and that's to obtain
the contact details of people visiting the page. Pretty
obvious you would think? However it's a constant source of
amazement that many site owners try to add as much
information and advertising they can to their lead capture
pages.

This nearly always results in a lower number of leads
being captured simply because people are given too much
information to take in. The idea is to provide a clear and
direct message about your business or products on a simple
and attractive web page that is friendly to the eye.

You are trying to present prospects with preferably just
one 'call to action' which should be to provide you with
their contact details. Presenting them with too much
information or sending them off around your other website
pages will probably result in a low number of leads being
captured in relation to the amount of visitors.

Don't forget that you can always re-direct prospects to
your homepage after they have left their details and you
can of course provide discreet links to and from your
other web pages. Try to make sure these are not too
prominent at first otherwise you will find people click
straight through without stopping to leave their details.

Last but by no means least is to make sure that you have a
straightforward means of capturing the contact details on
the lead capture page. You would be amazed at how many
people make this simple step far too complicated and loose
that lead as a result. Make sure you only collect the bare
minimum information you need such as first and last names
and an email address. That's it!

You now have the outline for creating a perfect lead
capture page. You will have someone who has arrived at
your page, read the key points and decided to leave their
contact details.

You now have a perfectly targeted lead.

Now that's something we all want!!
